LOL

A small wisp of a silhouette’s breath curled in the chilly air as moonlight danced on its ghostly tendrils. The shadowy figure, hunched over a map, sighed heavily, wondering how long she would have to wait. As the stars twinkled brightly in the onyx canvas floating above her raven black hair, a loud chime was heard echoing throughout the city, a cold hollow sound. Nicole glanced at the large clock tower looming over her, its hands moving ever so slowly through time. Midnight. She sighed once more, and directed her attention towards the sky. Black as the night was, she could still make out the small shape of her winged friend. As Nightmare approached, she dropped a small scroll she’d been carrying in her charcoal beak. She nudged it toward Nicole, and began to preen her sleek black feathers. Nicole unrolled the message, it read:
“LOL---1:30: Join the Circus.”
Nicole smirked slyly, a mission from her middle-school partner, Bertha. They both worked for a secret organization called the LOL, Last Organization Left. They worked to destroy the government that they saw as corrupt and unjust. There used to be other organizations that worked to cleanse the system that the US ran by. Over the years these organizations were crushed by the government, torn apart by greed and traitors, all that was left now… was the LOL.
Nicole gave Nightmare a piece of bread, sending the beautiful raven off with a message for Bertha saying that she was on it, or just plain, “LOL.” She grabbed a large black backpack stuffed full of maps, knives, and a silenced pistol. She ran toward a large estate, owned by none other than a government official by the name of Mr. Tibbs.
